The Shipwreck Casserole

The Shipwreck Casserole has two origins. It either came about because 1) this is what sailors could salvage from the ship as it sunk and this casserole is what they would eat on land or 2) this is what sailors were served after being rescued from a shipwreck. Regardless of which story is true, what is true is that this is a hearty, Southern casserole recipe that tastes delicious. It's filled with yummy ingredients that will satisfy any hungry stomach.
