There are many great components to this slow cooker sausage casserole recipe. Right, so first off, we omitted the brown sugar - I have no idea why a casserole needs almost a whole cup of sugar! Then we used green beans fresh from our garden - not canned - and we added some chopped garlic and chili from the garden as well. It was a tasty and filling meal and perfect for the entire family!
