The La Cuisine Cast Iron Enameled Dutch Oven is not only one of the most beautiful pieces of cookware I have used, it is also one of the most functional. This beautiful casserole pot is perfect for making soups, stews, and of course, casseroles. The enameled finish makes it a wonderful dish to use for serving at the table, too.
Cooking with cast iron is known to be superior to other materials for a few important reasons. It distributes heat much more evenly than other cookware materials, which allows your food to all cook to the same temperature. With cast iron, you never need to worry about one under-cooked piece of meat next to an over-cooked piece of meat. It also is able to conduct heat through most cooking surfaces, including induction. Not to mention, it can be used in the oven. All of these attributes make cast iron wonderfully versatile.
This is honestly one of the most gorgeous pots I have ever cooked and served food using. The addition of an enamel coating to the cast iron, makes it a truly beautiful piece of cookware. It comes in five different enameled colors, and has a ombre gradated change in hue. The lid features the La Cuisine logo, as well as a stainless steel knob. I love using this pot to cook and then serve recipes for a dinner party. Almost every guest seems to remark on the beauty of the casserole pot.
Another great feature on this pot are the handles. They are much larger than other cast iron pots, which makes it so much easier to carry it with bulky oven mitts. It also makes it simple to use the pot as a serving dish since guests can lift and pass it around a table with ease.
The lid has its own features that make it special. It is tiered on the interior which actually allows for internal basting. This helps keep the moisture locked into the food you are cooking. I also love that the knob on the lid is extended so you can easily grab on hold of it.
I loved using this cookware to make this Easy Chicken Fricassee. It is a simple dish to make, but tastes like you spent the whole afternoon slaving over the stove. The Dutch Oven helps ensure the chicken develops a nice crust, while remaining extra tender and flavorful.
One of the most amazing aspects of purchasing La Cuisine Cookware is the pricing. Competitor cookware can be hundreds to thousands of dollars, while La Cuisine continues to keep their pots and pans affordable. They make a wonderful gift for newlyweds, foodies, and just about anyone.
