This apple cobbler looks like the perfect fall dessert. You can't go wrong when you combine apples and caramel. Yum!

My mother made this a while back and she said that she loved it, but that it was extremely rich for her and my step dad because they are both diabetic. I was wondering how it would turn out if I backed down the pie filling to one and used some applesauce for the other. Do you think it would still turn out? How much applesauce would you recommend if any?

Hi SissieSass, we haven't tried this recipe so I'm not sure about the applesauce substitution. I would suggest commenting on the recipe post on Julie's blog and seeing what she recommends. - Natalie, Editor of AllFreeCasseroleRecipes

This looks fantastic. I love the idea of using a cake mix as a quick cobbler topping. So easy and delicious!
