I didnt have the crescent rolls so I used a pizza dough instead. I followed the recipe, only because I was without italian sausage. I used double the amount of sauce and found it still a challenge to spread 2 layers evenly. This was still a very good recipe. I added fresh mushrooms with onion and fresh basil. I made it in a glass 9x13 dish. I will make this again.

I have made little mini pizzas for the kids using crescent roll dough, and even a holiday breakfast pizza before, but never thought to try a full sized deep dish pizza using them. This looks great, but I think I will use diced up Italian style chicken sausage in place of the ground beef since it saves a step.

This sounds very easy. Crescent roll recipes are amazing. I think I'll use Italian sausage, mushrooms, and olives, to make it like a pizza I would order.

I made a couple changes just for my convenience. When I make spaghetti, I always have extra sauce which I usually convert to an easy lasagna. I had a can of crescent rolls, so I looked up new recipes. I make my spaghetti sauce with hot bulk sausage so this looked liked a possibility to try. Besides using the leftover spaghetti sauce, I also layered pepperoni slices on top of the sauce. I prebaked the crust for 3 minutes then baked for 20 minutes. Then let it set for about 10 minutes. Huge hit with my family! I will be making again, possibly adding ground beef, mushrooms and olives. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi dkhanson, I'm glad it turned out well! It's always fun to take a recipe and make it your own. - Natalie, Editor of AllFreeCasseroleRecipes
