I've had similar desserts to this, but not quite this specific recipe. I like the shortbread layer as well, and I agree it could be used for a variety of other desserts. I'd like to give this a try with walnuts or peanuts instead of pecans. I'd also like to include a bit of almond extract in the cheesecake mixture. I think the combination of that with the chocolate pudding layer would be very good.

I love the pecan "short bread" base layer in this recipe. I could imagine using this as a base for many other desserts, like a cheesecake or under blueberry cream pie for example. You could add whatever toppings you like here - I'm thinking I might like to put on some heath bar bits or even some broken up oreo cookies. Yum!
