This recipe combines boiled Yukon gold potatoes with Southern cooking staples such as butter, milk and heavy cream, plus mascarpone cheese. It’s a potato side dish that can easily be made ahead. Just make the mashed potatoes in advance and reheat them on the stove or in a slow cooker. In our house, you can’t have Thanksgiving without some type of potato casserole, and for this meal, it’s always mashed potatoes.
